Welcome to Thames Valley Contemporary Textiles group.
We meet four times a year in Bracknell and are open to all with an interest in contemporary textiles - whether beginner, intermediate or professional.

Meetings

From Joanne Saunders our Coordinator
I hope you and your family are keeping safe and well. These are strange times aren’t they? We are all adjusting to a different way of living at the moment, I have been teaching my secondary school pupils remotely as well as home schooling two primary school aged children, both have brought their own challenges. The hardest bit is not being able to see my parents. However, I have valued quality time spent with my family, less frenetic days and watching the change of the seasons, I am so lucky to have a garden to escape to. I hope there have been moments of positivity for you too.

In this newsletter I have a few important messages:
TVCT meeting 23rd May - cancelled.
Due to the lockdown Birch Hill community centre has temporarily closed so the meeting scheduled for the 23rd May will not go ahead as planned. We will let you know future dates for meetings as the lockdown measures ease.

‘Sew Innovative’ Challenge and Exhibition.
With so much uncertainty at the moment due to Corona-virus (Covid 19) the TVCT committee has decided to postpone the ‘Sew Innovative’ exhibition until 2021. We appreciate that some of you have completed your piece but there may be some members who feel anxious or have been affected during this time and have not had the opportunity to complete work. We are planning a new submission date and will let you know when that has been decided.

If the West Country Quilt Show goes ahead the space that we have been allocated will be available to any members who have other work that they would like to exhibit. Please let Sandy know if you would like to be a part of this.

Instagram.
Sandy has done an amazing job setting up tvconttext Instagram for our group. We would love you to send photographs of any pieces that you have completed or work that is in progress for the ‘Sew Innovative’ challenge so that we can share your creativity on Instagram. Please email your photographs to Sandy.

Visiting speakers.
As the May meeting is not going ahead we have decided to postpone John Browning (leaf kites) and arrange for him to visit later in the year. If we are able to meet in September we will keep to the current schedule and welcome Zoe from Paintbox Threads to that meeting.

Finally, and most importantly, I hope that you are well and continue to keep safe. I very much look forward to seeing you soon.

Take care
Joanne
